Clearing the guest list in one step, and saving without errors

Between the first draft of the invitations and the ceremony, the guest list changes several times. A delegation is added, a dignitary sends a representative, an organisation replies late. Anyone who reloads the list into the seating plan after each round of changes knows the tedious part: redoing what was already sorted.

Version 3.8.2 is a maintenance update with nothing new to learn, and it deals with exactly this.

Clearing the list, fully or in part

At the bottom of the seating plan’s guest list there is now a button to clear it, with two options. The first removes everyone. The second removes only the names that came from invitations and keeps those typed in by hand, meaning the additions decided in the hall that match no invitation.

This is for anyone who revises the invitations and wants to reload them cleanly without losing the manual work. Either way, the seats of the people removed become free again on the plan.

Before, there was only a full clear, hidden in the right-click menu: it also removed the manual additions and left the seats occupied. The procedure is described in section 6.3.15 of the manual.

Saving no longer gets stuck

After clearing and reloading the list, saving the seating plan could fail, and anyone who had run into it knew the workaround. That fault is fixed. Deleting the last remaining name no longer gives an error either.

Check-in figures add up

In the check-in summary, the counts for present, awaited and declined were inflated when guests had companions: each invited guest was counted once for every accompanying guest. Now the statuses add up to the total number of guests. In the entrance app, the word “null” that appeared before the name of anyone without a title has also gone.

Dates can be typed

In records with a date field you can now type the date instead of picking it from the calendar, and 12/05/1980 is read the Italian way, as the twelfth of May. The update needs no changes to your data.
