Accompanying guests sit next to the person they came with

One guest arrives with their spouse, another with their chief of staff. Until now the automatic arrangement placed them by precedence, and the accompanying guest could end up a few seats along, or across the aisle. Then the office had to bring them together by hand.

The seat right next to them

From July, when an accompanying guest is marked “sits nearby”, the arrangement gives them the seat beside the invited guest, towards the outside of the row. If that stretch of the row is full, people move along the same stretch instead of jumping across the aisle. When one guest has several accompanying guests, they sit together next to the invited guest.

The “sits nearby” setting is made once on the ceremony, and every invitation picks it up already filled in. For special cases you change it on the single invitation.

What to check at the end

When the automatic arrangement finishes, a window lists the cases that need your attention, for example an accompanying guest who could not be seated next to the invited guest. Before, you had to spot them by looking at the plan. Now you have them in a list, one per line.

Other July changes

In the lists exported to PDF and Excel, and in emails, names can be shown surname first, as many offices prefer. The setting applies to the whole installation: if you want it, ask us and we will switch it on.

On the plan a locked seat is now orange: it used to be the same colour as an accompanied seat, and the two were easy to confuse. Seats drag smoothly, the labels on the plan adapt to the length of the name, and invitations are generated faster.

One last fix, released at the start of the month: a representative entered by hand on an invitation is no longer lost when you save.
